Three-billion-year-old treasures that existed long before mankind.
The oldest thing that you will ever touch! The volcanoes trapped diamonds in their molten rock as it exploded to the surface, and today, diamonds are found in the remanence of these ancient volcanoes we call kimberlite pipes. Natural diamonds are sometimes referred to as ‘mined’ diamonds, although some natural diamonds are recovered without mining.
Only 7 mines are responsible for most of the diamonds in the world.
Over the past 140 years, around 7,000 kimberlite pipes (the rock where diamonds can be found) have been examined, but only approximately 1,000 of them actually contain diamonds. Out of these 1,000, only about 60 have held a sufficient diamonds to be economically feasible. Surprisingly, amongt these 60, merely 7 mines are responsible for the majority of the world's diamonds. This demonstrates the true rarity of finding these small, glittering gems, even over such an extended period.
To put it into perspective, if you were to gather all the diamonds ever polished worldwide since the beginning of time, they would fit inside just one double-decker bus.
A Sustainable Legacy
What is a sustainable diamond? The contemporary diamond industry extends its support to education and healthcare improvements in the communities it serves, benefiting around 10 million people worldwide. This results in a net worth of over $16 billion in socio-economic and environmental advantages, particularly in the Arctic regions and Africa. For instance, the discovery of diamonds in Botswana has brought about a remarkable transformation, turning the nation from one of the world's poorest into a middle-income country. As a result, employment, infrastructure, education, and healthcare have become accessible to the people and children of the region.
Natural diamonds embody timeless beauty, serving as both iconic style statements and environmentally-friendly companions. When you hold a diamond, you embrace not only its enduring legacy but also its potential to contribute positively to the world.
Your Family’s Best Friend Forever
Diamonds can last forever. That implies that along with the potential to be cherished family heirlooms, they can also be a reliable investment. Diamonds possess a distinctive quality as they remain unaffected by economic factors that often impact other commodities. For instance, while gold prices can be influenced by inflation, diamonds' real value remains stable. Regardless of the economic climate, diamonds maintain a steady demand as they serve not only ornamental purposes but also find use in industrial applications like cutting and drilling. Between 2016 and 2022, the prices of laboratory-grown diamonds fell by more than 70%. The rarity and challenging extraction process contribute to their limited supply, enhancing their investment value of diamonds even more.
